Background

Bun Coffee was born in 2005 in Byron Bay from founder David’s love of coffee, respect for the farmers who grow it, and a leap-of-faith vision. From the very first roast, Bun Coffee committed to Organic, Fair Trade, and Rainforest Alliance beans, crafting every cup with care and consistency.

Today, Bun Coffee offers around 60 single-origin coffees across two espresso bars, partner cafes, selected retail stores, and online, all roasted in their solar-powered facility. David’s dedication to excellence extends beyond daily roasting — he recently completed a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Coffee Excellence, reinforcing Bun Coffee’s passion for quality, sustainability, and innovation.

The Brief

As Bun Coffee continued to grow, they wanted to take the next step in deepening relationships with their community, strengthening repeat visits, and rewarding the loyal customers who support them every day. In 2023, they turned to Stamp Me to begin their digital loyalty journey.

The program allows Bun Coffee to offer a convenient, seamless way for customers to collect stamps, redeem rewards, and stay connected to the brand across both their Byron Bay and Ballina locations — all while reinforcing their commitment to quality coffee and exceptional customer experiences.

 Loyalty Program Works

Customers collect digital stamps through the Stamp Me app every time they purchase a cup of coffee. They operate with a “Buy 5 Coffees, Get Your 6th Coffee Free” offer, which strikes the right balance between being psychologically attainable and generous, whilst not hurting their bottom line. Once they reach 6 stamps, a free coffee reward is automatically issued in the Stamp Me app.

Customers can collect stamps and redeem rewards on one loyalty card. The shared loyalty offer drives repeat visits across both locations, offering customers convenience and reducing the likelihood of switching to competitors when one store is less accessible.

Stamping Method

For stamping, Bun Coffee utilises the Stamp Tag across both their Byron Bay and Ballina espresso bars. The Stamp Tag is a compact, tap-and-go card attached to a lanyard, making it portable and secure — staff can carry it on them at all times and usually present it to customers upon a purchase for tapping.

After making a qualifying purchase, customers simply open the Stamp Me app, select their Bun Coffee stamp card, and tap the back of their phone against the Stamp Tag. A quick vibration and confirmation screen instantly lets them know their stamp has been added. The same tag can also be used to validate rewards, creating a seamless experience from stamp collection to redemption.

This flexible, contactless solution is ideal for cafe environments, ensuring stamps can be issued quickly and securely while keeping service flowing smoothly.

Push Notifications: Bun Coffee regularly sends exciting communications about discounts, promotions, and events, e.g., a 15% discount off coffee bags offered on International Coffee Day. They also send informative notices, like changes in opening days or business hours, keeping customers informed and engaged.
